COSMIC HARMONY: A SPIRITUAL ROADMAP FOR PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION AND ABUNDANCE By M. T. Dwyer -- Free Site Excerpt -- III. EMPOWERED MIND “Nowhere man, please listen. You don't know what you're missing. Nowhere man, the world is at your command.” — The Beatles, "Nowhere Man" The transformation from the 'Nowhere Man'—the passive effect of circumstance—to the 'Empowered Mind' begins with one breathtaking realization: the power you seek is not outside you. It is fundamental to your being. The wisdom of every major spiritual tradition confirms this truth. As the Bible states: 'Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?' (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). This ancient text reminds us that the vast Universal Energy you seek is not separate from you; it is literally housed within your own mental and physical architecture. This means, simply and profoundly, that we are one with the Source. To begin your journey of Self-Mastery, you must turn your gaze inward and consciously recognize the incredible spiritual architecture that makes up the thinking mind. 1. The Creative Nature of Belief The foundational wisdom of this chapter—and indeed, much of this book—is best encapsulated by the teachings of Neville Goddard. His core philosophy states that: "The world around you is not fixed; it reflects your inner state. What you hold as true within will inevitably manifest without.” In short, your faith precedes your reality. This radical idea means that your mental state is your true force. It is the master control panel, the lens through which you perceive reality, and the engine that drives your actions. The state of your mind, the sum of your thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and beliefs at any given moment, is so fundamental that nothing else truly matters. This idea is supported by principles in psychology, philosophy, and neuroscience: a) Confirmation Bias: Your beliefs act as a powerful magnet. You tend to seek out and remember information that confirms what you already believe. It's why the phrase "people hear what they want to hear" is 100% true. b) The Placebo/Nocebo Effect: This is a perfect example of the mind's power over matter. Believing a treatment will work can lead to physiological changes. Conversely, believing something will harm you can also manifest negative physical effects. This powerful inner force perfectly demonstrates that the power lies within you, not in external circumstances. c) Your Mental State Dictates Action: A mental state of motivation and determination propels you toward your goals, while a state of lethargy or discouragement leads to inaction. The self-fulfilling prophecy shows this in action: your beliefs about yourself are blueprints for your behavior. Believing you will fail can lead you to unconsciously sabotage your efforts, thereby "proving" your belief. Conversely, believing in your success fuels the consistent action needed to achieve it. d) The Power of an Open Mind: Your mental states are not fixed. While they are constantly shifting, you possess the power to direct them toward a specific, deliberate purpose. This conscious direction of your mind, however, is impossible without one vital precondition: the open mind. An open mind is the ability to hold and consider opposing ideas simultaneously, recognizing that your current perspective is not the ultimate, final truth. As an old friend once told me, “As soon as someone says, 'I know,' you cannot teach them anything.” Letting go of that "Mr. Know-it-all" mindset was a significant and necessary step for my growth and my direct access to limitless possibilities. Only by letting go of false pride and embracing a state of active humility can you truly begin to master your mental faculties. When you adopt this openness, you realize you were never powerless; you are simply allowing your inner awareness to recognize and unlock your fundamental creative powers. "Belief overrides circumstances." — Neville Goddard IV. INTENTIONAL WILL Aligning with Source "In him we live and move and have our being." — Acts 17:28 Conscious will is the active force you apply to awaken to conscious living. It's the moment you stop being driven by your hidden mind and start intentionally choosing what your role is. The Intentional Will is the active force required to bridge the gap between abstract thought and physical result. It requires focus, persistence, and an absolute conviction in the creative power of the mind. Wallace Wattles perfectly summarized this process when he stated: 'Mind overcomes environment and every other obstacle; and mind is the only creator there is. Nothing can be created before we know that it can be and then make the proper effort.' There is much logic to these words. They remind us that the Will is the mechanism that ensures our positive thinking is not passive dreaming, but purposeful action. 1. Willingness: The Cooperative Force Willingness is the only true requirement for deciding to act. It isn't just a desire to get to the summit; it's being ready to start climbing, even with heavy gear and an uncertain path. This distinction is crucial: wanting is a desire, while willingness is a readiness to engage. When you are willing, you are in a state of cooperation with the Universal Source. Willingness is the key to unlocking harmony, alignment, and transformation in your life, providing the forward momentum to overcome self-doubt. 2. Intentional Action: Personal Effort and Persistence (PEP) Ultimately, your will is the motive power behind all manifestation. If you truly desire something, you will be eager and enthusiastic. So, how do you harness this power? Start by asking yourself, "Will I do this?" If your answer is yes, then put some PEP into it—Personal Effort and Persistence. Act with conviction and determination, knowing there is no room for doubting. Saying you can’t means you won’t, a helpful antidote for making excuses or procrastination. Go all in. You can dabble, but the results will be equal to the amount of effort you put into it. When you act, you are sending a powerful signal to the universe that you are worthy of receiving what you desire. This effort isn't about frantic action; it's about calm, deliberate, and purposeful movement that flows directly from your inner state of alignment.
